In February of this year we were recommended by our former lecturer Gordon Smith at Gateshead College to take on this commision with the chairty Sight Service. Sight Service wanted to create a narrative short film which follows a blind man’s first day of work, but rather than have a formal and just a walkthrough on how to treat blind people in work places, they felt this would be more interesting and creative. With help from fellow colleagues and friends a lot with visual difficulties. It was a challenge to direct and edit with no actors and only one with experience from within acting (the confused blind man). It was a great learning curve for both myself and Kevin we truely were not in our comfort zones but that was an advantage now overlooking the project.
It certainly is not our best narrative short film but it certainly does the job Sight Service commisioned us for, and I am personally quite proud of the film myself and Kev have pulled out from the bag!
